Dear Leader,

When we confront challenges, navigate resistance, or experience an upset, it can be easy to judge or blame the circumstances that surround us.

In such instances, we may draw our focus to the faults and flaws within our environments and relationships. We may zero in on our concerns about other people and their decisions. We may even default into shame and worry about ourselves.

This experience is normal. This experience is human.
๐™”๐™ค๐™ช are normal. ๐™”๐™ค๐™ช are human.

Our nervous system responds to the external environment by creating ๐™–๐™ฃ ๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™ฉ๐™š๐™ง๐™ฃ๐™–๐™ก ๐™š๐™ญ๐™ฅ๐™š๐™ง๐™ž๐™š๐™ฃ๐™˜๐™š within us.

๐Ÿง  Our wise brains make meaning of our challenges so that we can survive them.
๐Ÿ’ช Our wise bodies activate resistance as a way to protect us from harm.
๐Ÿ’— Our wise emotions awaken our awareness of the deeper truths of our heart.

Thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations all occur ๐˜ธ๐˜ช๐˜ต๐˜ฉ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ ๐˜ฐ๐˜ถ๐˜ณ ๐˜ฐ๐˜ธ๐˜ฏ ๐˜ด๐˜ฆ๐˜ญ๐˜ท๐˜ฆ๐˜ด, which brings us a tremendous amount of navigational power. Our inner experience can serve as a compass and guide for the direction we want to take, especially if we are ๐™–๐™ฌ๐™–๐™ง๐™š of how our nervous system is reacting.

Default reactions to lifeโ€™s circumstances are part of our evolutionary biology that keeps us alert and alive. We can be grateful for that physiology, ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฑ we can also get curious about the ways our survival tendencies limit us from truly thriving.

When we can be in a compassionate practice of noticing our default patterns, we can activate an empowered practice of choosing and creating the patterns that give us the experience of life we truly want.
