You have the provisions to pursue your vision
Dear Leader,
Do you have a vision that inspires you?
I used to struggle with creating visions. I used to believe that to have a vision was to distill every aspect of my boldest dreams into a concise, stand-alone, single statement...which felt really challenging to me. I no longer believe that.
A few years ago, I began utilizing a 𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘺𝘵𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘯𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘢𝘤𝘩 to vision creation. This approach gave me ample space and permission to really visit my vision, witness it, and capture it as a snapshot in time, using all 5 of my senses.
Last year, I wrote out a 10-year vision for my life. It’s several paragraphs long and reads like a journal entry that Future Me might write in 2034. Here’s the final paragraph of my 10-year vision:
𝘔𝘺 𝘸𝘢𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘣𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘭𝘥 𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘻𝘦𝘴 𝘱𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘦, 𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘦, 𝘫𝘰𝘺, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘪𝘴. 𝘐 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘪𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘦, 𝘵𝘰 𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘮, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘥𝘦𝘤𝘭𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘣𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘮𝘢𝘺 𝘴𝘦𝘦 𝘰𝘯𝘭𝘺 𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘨𝘨𝘭𝘦. 𝘐 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘱𝘦𝘥 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘭𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘮𝘺 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘱 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘶𝘯𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘣𝘶𝘪𝘭𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘸𝘩𝘪𝘤𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘥𝘦𝘦𝘱𝘭𝘺 𝘥𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘳𝘦. 𝘐 𝘣𝘶𝘪𝘭𝘥 𝘣𝘳𝘪𝘥𝘨𝘦𝘴 𝘣𝘺 𝘸𝘢𝘭𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘰𝘶𝘴𝘭𝘺 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘶𝘯𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸𝘯, 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘶𝘯𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸𝘯, 𝘐 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘣𝘶𝘪𝘭𝘵 𝘩𝘰𝘮𝘦.
A vision is a picture of 𝙖𝙣 𝙞𝙣𝙨𝙥𝙞𝙧𝙚𝙙 𝙛𝙪𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚–a future we actively design and create by how we choose to live in the 𝗻𝗼𝘄.
Having an inspired future fueled by intentional design helps to bring us out of our default state into a state of greater self-determination. From that envisioned place, we can make choices in the now that, over time, add up to bringing our desired future into existence.
𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝘄𝗲 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘄. All we have is now…and now…and now.
The whole point of having a vision is to inspire the present moment and our ways of being in, and navigating, the now.
💭 What if you are 𝘢𝘭𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘺 the person you aspire to be?
💭 What if you’re 𝘢𝘭𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘺 on the path toward your vision?
💭 What if you 𝘢𝘭𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘺 have the resources to reach it?
How might knowing those things with certainty shape your actions and beliefs?
This is your invitation to let your vision tell you its story so you can see how provisioned you already are.
